In questi ultimi giorni non ho avuto tempo per fare granché, solo una bambolina piccina piccina... During these days I hadn't much time, so that's all I made, a little doll...

Ricordate il cotone da imbottitura da testare?

Do you remember the cotton that I had to test for cushioning?

Questa bambolina l'ho imbottita giusto con quello: ora devo fare la prova lava/asciuga! The doll has been cushioned with it: now I have to do the wash&dry test! Se avessi tempo mi piacerebbe vestirla con un abitino stranino fatto con questo cotone verde sfumato. If I had more time, I'd like to make her a dress using this green yarn. Per realizzarla ho seguito le mie stesse spiegazioni per la bambola più semplice, il modello dedicato alle principianti. I've made it using my own instructions for the basic doll, the "for beginners" model. Nelle spiegazioni consiglio di usare un cotone n°3 ed un uncinetto n° 2,5 o 3 per realizzare una bambola bella grande, alta circa cm. 40 In the instructions, I advice using yarn n.3 and hook n.2,5 or 3 to make a doll approx. 40 cm tall.

In questo caso invece, sempre con le stesse spiegazioni (quindi numero di punti e giri), ed usando un cotone n°12 ed un uncinetto n°1 la bambolina è alta pochi centimetri.

But in this case, following the same instructions (and making the same number of stitch and rows) but using yarn n.12 and hook n.1, the doll is only few centimeters tall.

Bamboline come queste, una volta vestite con abitini all'uncinetto e decorate con passamanerie, piccole porzioni di pizzo, striscioline di stoffa ecc. possono diventare deliziosi e ambiti oggettini regalo.

This kind of dolls, once dressed with crocheted clothes and decorated with passementeries, little portions of lace, textile stripes etc. can make the perfect gift!

A gurdare queste foto dopo tanti anni mi fa un po' effetto... sono talmente diverse dalle cose che faccio ora... però possono servire come spunto, giusto? Do il via con questo post al resoconto di quanto in mostra presso l'atelier ad Abilmente, e parto dalla mia "vicina di postazione". Donatella realizza ornamenti ed accessori davvero stupefacenti dando nuova vita a materiali di scarto. With this post I'm starting a report about the Abilmente atelier, and I'going to start with the emplacement near mine. Donatella creates wonderful accessories and decorations using discarded and recycled stuff.

Plexiglass, plastica, gomma, cancellini, parti metalliche di ogni forma, bottoni, passamanerie, cordoni, stoffe, filati di ogni tipo escono dalle sue mani abili riassemblati, ripensati, reinventati.

Plexiglass, plastic, rubber, hardware, buttons, passementeries, ropes, fabric, every kind of yarn... everything passes trough her hands and becomes something else!

A questo lavoro di recupero ed assemblaggio creativo Donatella affianca la produzione di oggetti in rafia belli e sorprendenti (collane ed ornamenti, borse, cinture e cappelli). Ciò che mi ha colpito di più nel suo lavoro è l'assoluta libertà di accostamenti e soluzioni, praticata senza mai perdere di vista però l'armonia del tutto, dell'oggetto finito. Donatella creates also very nice objects in using bast (necklace, pendants, bags, hats, belts). I got very impressed by the total freedom of appositions and solutions, without compromising the congruity of the object itself. Non è un caso infatti che Donatella non solo abbia studiato arte e pittura, ma sia anche insegnante presso un l'istituto d'arte di Padova. Un incontro per me davvero stimolate! Grazie Donatella! In fact, Donatella studied arts and painting and is also a teacher in an Art Institute in Padova. Meeting you has been very inspiring! Thanks Donatella!

Abilmente: "the day after"

La fiera a Vicenza è finita, ho appena aggiunto ai post precedenti alcune foto che ho ricevuto via mail. Sono un po' fusa dopo quattro giorni così impegnativi, anche se bellissimi. Volevo solo ringraziare pubblicamente tutte le persone meravigliose che hanno reso possibile tutto questo con il loro impegno, duro lavoro, professionalità e sensibilità. Prima di tutto ringrazio Lea Di Muzio che mi ha invitato a partecipare alla manifestazione: non avrei potuto fare a meno del suo sostegno e del suo entusiasmo contagioso. Un grazie poi a Roberta Lunardon che mi ha seguito da vicino in tutte le fasi organizzative ed alla sua collega Barbara che si è occupata della promozione. Grazie a Wilma Marchesi della Coats Cucirini che mi ha dato una vera iniezione di energia e voglia di continuare a lavorare con impegno sempre maggiore. Un grazie alle amiche che sono venute a trovarmi all'atelier, a quelle che mi hanno sostenuto da lontano e a tutte le colleghe creative che hanno condiviso con me questa esperienza. Un ultimo grazie (e grande così) al mio moroso che si è impegnato a sostituirmi in tutto e per tutto nelle incombenze di cura di tutti i miei cari quadrupedini pelosi!
